Natural Hair Care – Start your Journey Today - and don't be scared!

Natural Hair Care – Start your Journey Today - and don't be scared!

Ever since i started making my haircare products using natural ingredients, i really started to see beautiful healthy hair.

Our Beer, Egg and Honey Shampoo Bar, and our Mango and Cocoa Conditioning Bar are a great way to start your journey. They will help with the transition period and give your hair and scalp a new lease on life.

Here are some useful tips to follow improve the health of your hair because healthy hair is beautiful hair.

Choose Natural Products

Commercial Shampoos, conditioners, and colourants contain very nasty toxic chemicals. What’s worse is that when you shower or bathe,  the heat opens your pores and substances are more easily absorbed into your system.

The Less you do to Your Hair the Better

We don’t wash our hair as often as you think you should but we do take care of it. If you do choose to go natural or what they call the ‘no poo method’, there will be a period (say 3-6 weeks) of transition or detox.

Start with the Shampoo Bar and use it once or twice a week. It will feel weird at first but your hair and psyche will adapt in a couple of weeks.

It's not that bad but when it's over your hair will be better than ever before.

Brushing(when dry) is a Must

Using a good brush two or three times a week for 20 minutes helps stimulate the natural oils from the sebaceous glands in your scalp. As you brush from the roots to the tips you will spread those oils throughout your hair.

Showering

When you’re about to finish your shower turn the water to completely cold and rinse your hair for 30 seconds. This will close the cuticle minimizing split ends and retaining moisture, which will give you a nice shine.

Apple Cider Vinegar

The quintessential piece of my haircare routine.

ACV helps restore the outside protective layer repairing microscopic tears and split ends giving you a soft, shiny look and feel. It also removes residue that can leave your hair looking dull and balances the pH of your hair and scalp.

We created a Herbal Hair Rinse based on ACV but with a herbal infusion, essential oils and argan oil that you can use once or twice a week to provide the above benefits.

Natural Home Hair Treatment

One great hair treatment that we’ve recently discovered and is super simple to make.

Take 2 medium sized leaves from an Aloe Vera plant, slice through the middle of the leaf and with a spoon scoop out the clear gel part.

Pop that into a blender and add 2 cups water and 1/2 cup of ACV.

You can throw a banana in there, an egg, avocado or beer if you want as well. All are superstars for the hair.

Blend and apply the mixture to your whole head - leave for 1-3 hours and then rinse out.

No need to wash or condition afterwards and you’ll enjoy clean, super soft and healthy hair.

If you can't be bothered to make the above recipe we have a Avocado, Mango and Shea Butter - Overnight Hair Treatment which is rich and delivers the necessary nutrients to treat dry, damaged and lifeless hair.

If you have any questions regarding your hair or how best to start your natural hair care journey, we are always excited and willing to help, email - hello@tobyandrosie.com
